Hello,
I have photographed this starling in Tokyo Japan late August of this year.
Is it a Daurian starling juv or Chestnut-cheeked starling juv?or something else?
Could you please help identifying the species?
Thanks a lot
Imad

Hi Imad,

Try posting this pic in the Identification part of Birdforum, more people will see it there. I don't know the differences between those two I'm afraid.

Looks like a juvenile/immature Chestnut-cheeked - http://orientalbirdimages.org/birdi...es&Bird_ID=2517&Bird_Family_ID=204&pagesize=1 - http://orientalbirdimages.org/birdi...es&Bird_ID=2517&Bird_Family_ID=204&pagesize=1

Compare this presumed juvenile Chestnut-cheeked, scroll down - http://www.birdskorea.org/Birds/Birdnews/BK-BN-birdnews-2008-08.shtml

to this Daurian, scroll down - http://www.birdskorea.org/Birds/Birdnews/BK-BN-birdnews-2009-08.shtml

Note the extensive white in the wing of your bird, compared with those in the links.
