How long ago was this taken?
I thought Common Sand was a Summer visitor.
Could it be Green Sand?
Just a thought if it was taken recently.

Definitely a Common Sand, and as Poecile says, they will occasionally over Winter. Though your much more likely to find a Green Sand rather than a Common in Winter.

Mahsleb works an area that I know well - the River Colne near Wivenhoe in Essex, and I suspect that is where this was taken. I haven't been this winter but last year there were 1-2 wintering Common Sands in that area.

Hi All

Very Interesting thanks :t:
The picture was taken yesterday
on the River Colne between Wivenhoe and Colchester
Well spotted aythya!
