Dead Hooded Seal Pup - Fife (1 Viewer)

No, they are called pups upto about a year when they shed their pup coat. I have not seen a photo of the seal but assume it is this grey blue colour coat which has got it reported as a pup rather than a very young seal.
They are born in April and are only nursed for a few days and then left by the mother to fend for themselves. The nearest breeding occurs off the eastern side of Greenland, I can only assume it came from there.
