Former Chancellor Kenneth Clarke, a keen birdwatcher, charts the rise and rise of the RSPB and the increasing popularity of birdwatching across the British Isles. Founded in 1889 by a group of ladies in Didsbury, Manchester, the Society is now the largest conservation charity in Europe.
