Unknown heron - Andaman (1 Viewer)

Hello,

I have this 2 pictures from Andaman Islands (Port Blair) of a white heron but the color of the legs and the bill doesn't match with any specie. Maybe a chinese egret or pacific-reef egret??

Eastern Reef looks plausible. I can't find photos of a white morph from this time of year, but these look quite comparable:

shortish, thick yellow legs, grey bill of even thickness for most of its length, hunched posture - generally looks a much more robust and "dumpy" bird than most Ardea/Egretta sp!

Agree with Steve. The Andaman and Nicobar group is the only place in South Asia where Pacific/Eastern Reef Egret occurs.
