Fishwatching in t he last few days (1 Viewer)

The warmer temperatures seem to be bringing more fish into visibility.

Saw some stone loach in a smaller river the other day. But today a short trip along the canal and a river revealed the huge swarms of fish that live in there. Huge swarms of fish, everything from sticklebacks, through roach, dace, rudd, chub, perch, and a school of large bream. In the river there were minnows and chub in addition to dace, roach, and perch.

In the canal, a large group of medium large perch were picking off the smaller fish.

Saw a pike in the canal the other day too.

Again at Mapperley today there were at least 6 large fish visible from the bird screen and i presume they were Common carp? or is Pike a possibility?.

Many thanks for your replies Robert and Isurus and having looked at the starting point for the dorsal on Pike i can see the difference quite clearly.

Must be nice....all I can get to bite are these large mouth bass that won't leave my jigs alone (sniff, sniff). :t:
