April 10th 2004 Eli's Attar Team ringing results:

At Maagan Michael Fishponds, Israel, nets have been placed from 5.45 AM up to 12.00 PM, clear skies light north westerly wi,nd

The highlight was capturing a Reed Warbler; banded by Eli Attar dated Jul 7th 1994, recorded as a 1 year old, and had an incubation spot. Recaptured Mar 31st 2001 examined by Avi Rocheman with out an incubation spot, recaptured May 26th 2001 examined by Nina, and had an incubation spot.

Total birds band = 96 birds

No. Of species and sub species = 12 birds

Recaptured = 12 birds (1 Reed warbler with a band dated Jul 7th 1994)

Kingfisher (Alcedo atthis) = 1

Cetti's Warbler (Cettia cetti) = 5

Reed Warbler (Acrocephalus scirpaceus) = 48

Sedge Warbler (Acrocephalus schoenobaenus) = 12

Lesser Whitethroat (Sylvia curruca) = 3

Blackcap (Sylvia atricapilla) = 6

Great Reed Warbler (Acrocephalus arundinaceus) = 9

Nightingale (Luscinia megarhynchos)=1

Graceful Prinia (Prinia gracilis) = 3

Great Tit (Parus major) = 1

House Sparrow (Passer domesticus) = 6

Savi'S Warbler (Locustella luscinioides) = 1

Hi Danny,

Good to hear from Israel...about time too!

Interesting news re the ringing. Please keep us all informed about the
migration, raptors, storks, pelicans, etc, along with any news you have from other parts of northern Israel.
