It’s been a quiet week for bird reports with the hot weather. Peanuts have been in high demand with the large amounts of chickadees reported around Nanaimo. Numerous reports of various woodpecker species have come in, especially for those with suet feeders.

Remember: Everyone needs water, birds included. In this dry weather putting out a small dish of water will help our feathered friends keep hydrated this summer. And the addition of water to your backyard will help attract bird species that don’t eat bird seed.
