[1] Cattle Egret:
I saw a group of about a dozen Egrets in a field of cattle between Valparaiso and Santiago (on a coach, so not time for a photograph). Could these have been Cattle Egrets?
[2] Giant Petrel:
Seen at Valparaiso Harbour, I assume these very large birds are Southern Giant Petrels. Does this fit in with their known range?
Pictures are not very good. First was taken early in the morning, so the dark colour may be unreal. This bird was gliding at about half a metre above the water (hence the shadow).Second picture, about 5 p.m was of three black and white looking birds flying away much too fast for me.
Both questions relate to yesterday.
