For some reason I always have problems with Terns during migration.

Don't think a Sandwich Tern would show that carpal band. I think it's a juv/1st winter Common Tern - Arctic would have paler primaries.
 
Don´t think it is a Little Tern, they were here a few weeks ago and clearly seen. This is another Tern. Easily recognizable by size.

Okay, so Bert, help us to help you. What size was It? Bigger than a Little Tern but smaller than a Sandwich Tern.
 
Indeed bigger then Little Tern, slightly bigger then Black Tern, but absolutely smaller then Sandwich Tern.
If the Tern would have made sound it would have been much easier, this one was completely quiet.
