Tuesday March 29, 2005:
An ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER was seen along the Cable Bay Trail in Cedar.

Sunday March 27:
Three WOOD DUCKS were spotted on the Marsh at Buttertubs Marsh in Nanaimo.
One female AMERICAN KESTREL was sighted at Duke Point in Cedar.

Thursday March 24:
Two male RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRDS were seen performing their aerial displays in the 300 block of Fledgeling Place in Nanaimo.

Tuesday March 22:
A TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE was seen along the powerlines about 100 meters from the Harewood Mines Road in the Harwood area of Nanaimo.
A male CALIFORNIA QUAIL and a female RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD was seen at feeders near Lantzville and Superior Roads in Lantzville.
Large rafts of seabirds are still being seen on the water from Rathtrevor Provincial Park north to Qualicum Bay.
EVENING GROSBEAKS and AMERICAN GOLDFINCH are coming to feeders in the Cathers Lake area of Nanaimo.
A TOWNSENDS WARBLER, VARIED THRUSH and RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRDS are coming to feeders in the 1100 block of Stymie close in the Eaglecreast area of Qualicum Beach.
Over 100 HARLEQUIN DUCKS were spotted at Columbia Beach.
A YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER was spotted at suet feeders behind Buttertubs Marsh in Nanaimo.

Monday March 21:
A YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER(AUDUBON'S) was singing on the Rocky Creek Road in Ladysmith.

Sunday March 20:
Over twelve EVENING GROSBEAKS were seen behind the Pryde Vista Golf Course in Nanaimo.

The March 20, 2005, Sunday Bird Walk went to Buttertubs Marsh and included twelve birders.
We saw 29 species with a RUDDY DUCK , close looks at a young RED-TAILED HAWK being mobbed by NORTHWESTERN CROWS and many VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS being the highlights.

The Backyard Wildbird and Nature Store presents Sunday morning bird walks. We meet at the store located at 6404 Metral Drive at 9:00 a.m. and go to a different birding location each week for about 2 or 3 hours. Everyone is welcome.

Saturday March 19:
An AMERICAN GOLDFINCH was seen along Venlaw Road in Nanaimo.
Six SWALLOWS were seen flying above Hamilton Marsh In Qualicum Beach.
An ALBINO AMERICAN ROBIN was seen in with a flock of AMERICAN ROBINS in Cedar.

Friday March 18:
Fifteen to twenty RED CROSSBILLS were seen at feeders in the 1300 block of Ivor Road in Cedar.

Thursday March 17:
A CALIFORNIA QUAIL was seen at feeders along Hunter Street in Nanaimo.
A RED CROSSBILL and a female RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD were seen in a yard along Yellowpoint Road in Cedar.
