Ringing on Gibraltar (1 Viewer)

Hi Folks

Well, doesn't seem as if I have been away a day and yet it was 2 weeks.

On Gib.picked up all the ringing sheets from the last fortnight and it made for interesting reading.

The finch passage has finished but did not appear too exciting with less Greenies than usual and only a trickle of Linnets and Goldies.Probably all the "official" finch trappers in Andalucia have taken more than their fair share this Autumn!!!!

All the trans Saharan mirants have dried up too,October saw the last of the Garden warblers and Pied Flys.

The Robins are in with a vengence and the shooters in the Pyrennes did not get all the Song Thrushes either as they seem to be picking up in their numbers.

Chiffchaffs are also beginning to build up and the best of the Black Redstarts are yet to appear but 2 Firecrests ,male and female,in the same net at the same time were unusual.

Bird ,most likely of the year, was a 1st.year female Bullfinch, only the 2nd.to be ringed on the Rock.,that will teach me to pop back to UK!!!!

Cheers for now

Ricardo
