birding at home (1 Viewer)

Hi my name is Ash, im 42 from north wales. I like birding but im unable to go out much to reserves to birdwatch because im disabled and don't have the transport. I was thinking of having a feeder in my garden to attract birds and watch them from my window. I put a bird pole on my lawn and hung feeders off of that which worked great until an ants nest appeared underneath the pole. I am not trying that again, we have a wooden fence, could i put a screw or something into the fence and hang a feeder off that? What do you suggest? Thanks.

Yes, you can certainly hang feeders on a fence, there's various ways to hang them. A pole feeder should work, I think the ants nest may have been a coincendence.

You can also do what I do and have window feeders (they stick to the glass).

I'm sure others will be along soon with some more ideas for you.

I'm not sure about hanging near a fence though which would help any squirrels around jump on the feeders which we all deal with If you don't deal with squirrels then there should be no problem
