Hi all,
I thought I was photographing a female chaffinch, the wings look good but the face seems too dark. Could this be a first winter male?

Thanks

Andy

Don't think there's enough pink on the breast for a male at this time of year, although it is obscured by an evil shadow!!! So female IMHO.

Cheers Jon. After a horrible stormy weekend, today was all blue sky and very mild.... the down side is EVIL SHADOWS
