Large gull id uk (1 Viewer)

Normally i'm fairly ok with gulls, but this bird confused me. To be honest i'm not entirely sure whether its a fairly advanced 2cy or a 3cy. As for id it is presumably one of herring, caspian or michahellis. Help!!!!

I would say it is a 3cy Herring Gull, but I'm not an expert in large gulls...

Hello Matt.

The pale grey upperparts, tail pattern, narrow dark terminal band and structure makes your gull a Herring Gull, probably a 3cy type.

That's what I thought - a lovely adult Med and we are focusing on a crappy Herring gull

(Said with tngue in cheek, irony, no offence etc)

And a Common Gull to the right...so there are 4 gull species in the first pic.

Yeah, but there were over 30 med gulls in the flock, and i can identify them!

No sleight on your identification skills on Med gull, Matt - of course not. I think it was a "wondered if you noticed it in the photo" moment.
