Mange. (1 Viewer)

Bird and squirrel lover.
I got a squirrel with a case of mange frequenting my feeders every couple of days, he is not one of my 4 regulars but one of the 3 others that come and visit. My question is since I know he has mange, can mange (being a parasite) transfer to birds?

The vet won't do anything, he told me to shoot it. Says unless I can trap it nothing can be done. I am worried about my other squirrles and the birds safety.

Pray it gets better? I don't have the heart to shoot it, plus its highly illegal to discharge a firearm in city limits. Tried to get a cat trap to trap him in there from the local police department but they got them all loaned out already.
