How big is my flock? (1 Viewer)

Hi all
New to birds , so pardon me if this is a dumb question. This spring I hung two finch feeders that are wildly popular with the local yellow finches. So far I have gone through about 80 pounds of niger seeds. Geez! These little guys are voracious. Is there any way to estimate the total number of birds that are in the neighborhood based on food consumed? They are so tiny it seems there must be zillions of them. Thanks, John in Arroyo Grande, CA.
