I can't help, other than to say that house finches and purple finches are one of the most common birds in my backyard, so I can confirm that this isn't one of those... the beak is too pointy, colors are wrong, and the tail is a different shape.

Absolutely right, my error, that bill puts it in the Siskin, Goldfinch bracket?
