Daurian Starling ? please... (1 Viewer)

It appears to be a juvenile of either Daurian or Chestnut-eared (cheeked) and although difficult from these images, I would suggest Chestnut-eared based on the more apparent pale secondary block. However, without better images I wouldn't be overly committed.

Chestnut-eared, scroll down - http://www.birdskorea.org/Birds/Birdnews/BK-BN-birdnews-2008-08.shtml
Daurian, scroll down - http://www.birdskorea.org/Birds/Birdnews/BK-BN-birdnews-2009-08.shtml

Though beware some Daurian can show this - http://orientalbirdimages.org/birdi...es&Bird_ID=2516&Bird_Family_ID=204&pagesize=1 though it is perhaps more consistent in Chestnut-eared - http://orientalbirdimages.org/birdi...es&Bird_ID=2517&Bird_Family_ID=204&pagesize=1

For what it's worth, Brazil's recent Birds of East Asia says that Daurian is accidental in Taiwan, with Chestnut-cheeked being a scarce migrant. I also agree with Rockfowl's comments.

More likely a Chestnut-cheeked than Daurian. I would echo Mark on the seemingly more apparent pale secondary block. Chestnut-cheeked would be a little more common on Taiwan than what Brazil says. Where and when was the photo taken?
