Herring gull or Yellow-legged gull? (1 Viewer)

can't tell for sure from these pics. bold covert pattern and a lot of white in tertials could belong to a 2nd cycle herring gull and the primary projection looks short (but it holds its tail very high so this might influence pp). on the other hand it could just be an advanced 1st cycle michahellis with replaced tertials and most coverts: the dark smudge around eye is better for this taxon.

Agreed. Any chance it could be a retarded 2nd winter?

not totally excluded, andy. but from these pics an advanced 1st winter looks more likely even though it has a pale bill base.
