Grey or common seal pup? (1 Viewer)

I was absolutely sure this was a common pup. It's not that old, and it's the wrong time of year for grey pups. Looking at its fur however gave me pause. Surely a 6 month old grey would be much bigger than this. Can someone please confirm that this is indeed a common pup?

It's a Common Seal anyway.... Their births run from February down South to Une/July in the "subarctic" so this is more likely to be a yearling if you are up North?

Fur patterns are generally unhelpful for species identification as they are variable, with much overlap between Grey and Common.
