Spider id needed CT USA

I came across this large spider near a stream. It was on the wooden crossing bridge. Can you identify it?-thanks-Larry

Thanks-I got the same response on a spider forum. They said fishing spider but did not specify which one either.
 
Thanks for the further description. I can tell you that I really was shocked at how large this spider was-maybe a female based on the size? I didn't think their was any spiders that big in Connecticut except for pet tarantulas.
