I think #1 is honey buzzard and #2 is common buzzard? Both taken in the vicinity of Hamburg

Both Common; HB has weak, small claws and a slenderer bill (and also tends not to perch on fenceposts!).

I meant the other eay around Was sure that the white bird was something different! Ah well.

Do you agree that this pic I posted last week is honey buzzard?

I'm nut cracker, but yes, the flying bird IS a Honey Buzzard and the sitting one a Common Buzzard.

Flying bird is juv Honey Buzzard. Agree with PS.

At least in Northern Germany, the Common Buzzard is highly variable and keeps bird watcher on their toes all the time. Light juveniles can be extra confusing.
