Not rare, but quite amusing (1 Viewer)

the local PIGEONS !!! they nest 24/7/12..
being serious though, the local media are a bit/completely thick down these parts.
it was only the other week i read in the bournemouth echo a piece on spoonbills, where the journalist/writer stated that they were so called because they hide their heads under their wings... the mind boggles where they find these reporters...
also, with all the spectators expected on chesil beach, would there not be a conflict of interest with the breeding terns ?

Made me laugh.... below is a clip from the BBC's story on the Olympic sailing venue for 2010:

"The start of construction, using 70,000 tonnes of Portland stone, was delayed to avoid disrupting the nesting season of over-wintering birds around the local coastline."

Any UK coastal birds nest in the winter ? :D

Construction was actually put off from January until May 2008 -- over the Spring in other words. No nesting (shore)birds in UK in Spring?
