I took this pic last Friday close to Rethymno ,Crete.
What is this?

I think one or two LSE overwinter in Crete.
Sounds plausible - even though they'd usually want to continue on into Africa, any LSE that ends up on Crete is going to think twice about continuing migration south into an apparently unending sea with no land target visible. It would be sure death if it tried. :t:
