Black bird-orange breast (1 Viewer)

Mom who lives west of Chicamauga, Ga. saw an entirely black bird, except for the breast which was vivd orange. She has been unable to locate name. With weather patterns changing we also have been privy to birds/animals not normally found in AK. One of the birds sighted was a Mandrin Duck off Kodiak and another was a bird (eagle) in Hatchers Pass (outside Wasilla) with a wingspand roughly the size of a Cessna plane. Sure this was a T-bird but the largest eagle is from Africa, is it not? I've seen a golden eagle in Anchorage and the former was not a golden eagle...huge difference in size. Suggestions or comments?

Hi there and a warm welcome to you from those of us on staff here at BirdForum :t:

Could your mom have been looking at an American Robin or possibly an Orchard Oriole?
