Can anyone ID this litte guy? It "hops" like a woodpecker, swoops like a WP and eats at all my feaders. I live in South Texas.

A nice White-breasted Nuthatch. They are cool birds. They do scamper close to tree trunks like woodpeckers, but they are not closely related. Note that a woodpecker generally holds its bill at a right angle to its body. A nuthatch will generally hold its bill parallel to its body. It may probe under bark, but never drills holes like woodpeckers do.

Best,
Jim

Thanks to all who've posted for the ID.... I've got an army of'em here in the yard; at least two pair that are regulars.

Jim, I'd never noticed that about a woodpecker but of course, your right!
