Everlasting Swamp supports Black-necked Storks, Brolga and many other wetland birds in the Clarence valley catchment, the largest river system on the east coast of Australia.
We are supporting the World Parks Congress and look forward to showing more visitors around this magnificent and rare wetland for long into the future.

www.birdrangers.com will have accommodation for visitors in 2015 in this biodiversity hotspot.

Thanks for posting this. Astonishing with the government we currently have that any National Parks right now are being created!

Chowch,
I would think that NSW Environment Minister Rob Stokes, a member of the same party as Tony Abbott, but a state minister only since April this year, might have got considerable support for this new National Park from the Federal Government, if only from the point of view that they could trumpet it as proving their 'conservation' credentials. They could then spin this to help offset their cack-handed approach in opening up protected areas for exploitation in other parts of Oz. :C

Si,
The new NP is just down the road (Australian definition) from you - wish it had been open three years ago when we met up with you!

Indeed! This government just beggars belief when it comes not just to conservation and the environment but pretty much everything else too.

Anyway, moderator warning to myself for straying completely off topic. ;)

That is a bit of a shock.

Abbott's Australia - meaner, dumber, hotter

Trip report may appear in due course ...
