Dr Grackle And Mr Hide

I got these pics shooting from my music room which overlooks the pond. So many times, I've had to stop recording and pickup the camera. This Grackle just has a mean look as he stares at the rabbit.

A second shot with their typical skyward stance. Is this because they're on the lookout for birds of prey?
Do any of the informed members here know the answer. Just curious, as I often see them doing this, especially the larger older ones.
