White-winged doves for Sydsmythe... (1 Viewer)

I finally decided to bring my camera out with me last weekend while lounging in my pool, so I took some snaps of my backyard doves and birds from the poolside. Since you asked about the white winged doves, I figured I'd share some with you to show they're around!:

Also, some mourning doves:

General assortment of birds all fighting for seeds:

Cardinals get in on the action:

And mockingbirds too:

Grackles:

We get the big collared doves too, but I didn't get a pic of them.

Why thank you! Much credit to the warm sun, and probably the most comfortable shooting position you could imagine (lounging in my pool up to my chest, camera with 300mm lens sitting on the brick ledge, shooting the birds from ground level - nice thermos jug of iced tea, and a good book beside me on a hot day).

Thank you, those are great shots!

Someone got a white-winged dove in the mail the other day. The other carriers were saying."oh, it's just a pigeon". So I gave them a little lesson. Poor thing. It was pecking at the box something fierce. And I got so mad at the guy who was going to deliver it. He had the box standing on a small, high stool where the activity in the box could easily make the poor bird and box tumble to the ground.

He promised to deliver it first!!
