Thanks so much for the info MJB, I have had a good look round both places many times before, I am thinking about looking a bit more In land this time, Foxley wood?.
Check with the NWT website first about any access restrictions - some woodlands are being thinned to achieve a better age-structure composition.
NWT also has a full list of their reserves and access status.
There are decent walks from the Wolferton raptor watchpoint.
Sculthorpe Fen is worth spending time in. Access to the most distant hide is stopped once the harriers start courtship.
Try the tiny private reserve at Flitcham - Little Owl is resident & Kingfisher may perch within 15 metres - see map attached - red dot is the tiny car park.
For other walks just in from the coast, there's Salthouse Heath (perhaps some chats), Kelling Heath (Dartford Warbler? North Norfolk Steam Railway) and Sheringham Park (Lesser Spotted Woodpecker amid mature oaks).
Pensthorpe Nature Reserve has many good habitats and many trails. While boning up on the exotics in the collection, you might well track down calling Willow Tit, but Marsh is much, much more likely. Check on the Corncrake breeding programme. I think they've run out of signed pictures of Kate Humble!
The OS maps of West, Central and East Norfolk have many footpaths maked on them, lots of which pass through or by woodland or waterbodies.
