indicator if the real numbers of raptors killed by shooting estates every year (1 Viewer)

The author, the journal Scottish Birds, and the Scottish Ornithologists' Club certainly all exist. I don't personally see the journal but you could easily contact the SOC website for info. Assuming it's been correctly cited on the RPS site, the paper looks like a major contribution for anyone after facts instead of anecdote.
 
I have the journal and paper in question in front of me. The totals given in the link are correct, but for clarity relate to 'hawks and owls' (referred to as 'raptors' in the link above).

It's worth pointing out that these are historical data (20+years ago). Atholl estate is now one of the more progressive estates as far as widlife conservation and raptor tolerance is concerned.
 
thankyou gentlemen that's exactly what i wanted to know, it's likely to be a real source rather than something made up, i will have a good read.
