Hi,
What would scope users recomend highly. I have heard that the Helios is very good optically for its price. Overall better than the Nikon Prostaff 5 ?

Thoughts ?
Thanks

I haven't tried the Pro staff 5 yet but....

The Helios is a fairly long scope for a 65 mm. That usually means a longer focal length. A longer focal length, assuming the same objective diameter, usually has a more well-corrected image. Throw in the ED glass objective and I think, on paper, it is a fairly easy choice. Also keep in mind that, in the US, the Helios(Theron Saker) is notably less expensive.

Probably the only aspe t favoring the Nikon is the addition of more eyepiece choices. I believe someone here on this forum found a way to use certain fixed power astro eyepieces with the Theron/Helios.
