    Monarchist

This wasn't the only day that I saw a Black-faced Monarch. but this day was the only one I managed to get pictures... and only after a long chase up and down the road as he flitted from tree to tree looking for insects I guess. Hard work that, in the heat!! And hard work post-processing...
  2. Tricky!

    Tricky!

Got him at last! I had a futile attempt at photographing one when we were on the Gold Coast, and this guy sure gave me the run-around on this day... up and down the road as he flitted between the trees lining the road. This was the best image I got, most of them were faceless as he hid behind...

the temps hit a record for October here in Sydney yesterday (38c) so I went to a little rainforest area and sat in the cool for a couple of hours. This monarch came down a couple of times to go through the leaf litter but I didn't see it go to the water.
