coal tit periparus ater

  1. Coal Tit

    Coal Tit

Another picture from 31st December when a Coal Tit landed next to me. Probably the last I'll post. Yesterday, for the first time, we had 2 Coal Tits together outside the window.

    Coal Tit

Not as close as the last one I posted but possibly more dynamic. Certainly more wintry.

This version is resized for Bird Forum but it's not cropped at all. The Coal Tit portrait is for Delia who knows I longed for these birds to return to our garden and, since they returned, to get decent pictures of them. I took a few shots of this bird and then it flew into a bush right in front...

@ another feeding place. This place regained importance. A wildlife photographer is regularly feeding the birds there.
  5. Coal Tit at last

    Coal Tit at last

We have one Coal Tit that visits the garden most days. It's very active and it's been a challenge trying to get pictures. I finally managed to get this shot when it stopped for a couple of seconds. A bit far off but at least it was in a good pose.
  6. Juvenile Coal Tit

    Juvenile Coal Tit

I though it was a juvenile Blue Tit at the time but when I downloaded the picture I saw it was a young Coal Tit. We had one or two in the garden during the winter but it's been a while since I've seen one so this was a pleasant surprise. We had a Cuckoo in the garden yesterday but It he flew...

Posting on Sunday again (instead of Saturday) as we were at a concert in Stockholm yesterday evening. Haven't seen our Coal Tit for a few days and I miss it.

No posts yesterday as we attended a birthday party for a six-year-old. (My wife's niece's little boy.)

    Gazing into winter

Lots of snow here again though the forecast is for rain. I don't think the birds appreciate winter as much as I do. But then they don't have warm homes to retreat into.
  11. Coal Tit

    Coal Tit

It's been very cold here for the past few days, below -15C at times, though its much milder today. It's been tough on us but much more so for the birds and mammals.
  12. Coal Tit

    Coal Tit

We were supposed to have a little snow today but instead we had rather a lot of snow. The birds all disappeared and it was getting dark by the time they began to return, . Hope to get lots of pictures of birds in the snow tomorrow though. The week's high point was when a young female Sparrowhawk...

Another welcome visitor to the feeders. I used to have to go up to the local woods to see Coal Tits.
