    Water Babies III

Not the most photogenic of settings, but the action was fun to watch. The ducklings, and especially the one all-yellow one, were jumping up to grab at ... not sure what. Insects? Algae? Anyway, at something apparently edible higher up on the canal wall. Oh, and for those who wonder: Nope. My...

    Water Babies II

On day 5, when we were practicing editing, I tried cloning out some of the light reflections in the background on this shot. I think that improved the shot, but we were just doing some "quick-and-dirty" practicing. I'll have to take my time doing a cleaner job. Oh, and what's going on here is...

    Water Babies I

Did I mention that my recent trip to the UK was to take a 5-day wildlife photography course at U of Nottingham? This was the last of the crafts courses husband and kids gave me for my 70th birthday, and that I've had to postpone for 2 years due to COVID. Anyhoooo ... I finally got to take it and...

A Goosander / Merganser family with 13 Ducklings filmed at the Ostravice river in Ostrava, Czech Republic. It was a joy to observe this family of a female Goosander with their 13 ducklings for a long time. Since I had no tripod with me I sat down in the gras on the riverside with my legs...

the number of Egyptian Geese is exploding around us here ;they are on the UK Invasive Species list (but apparently rare in Egypt !). We were told in Cape Town that their meat tastes awful so no human predation ; the caddies on the golf course are paid to remove the eggs to keep numbers down......

    Blue Heron - Wood Ducks

Last summer we had a female wood duck with her 5 ducklings grow up in our pond. I had restocked the pond last year with hybrid bluegills and perch. Here is an unwelcome guest, ( as he is a fish eating sob), and the wood duck family. Twice a day I would feed the fish small floating pellets, and...
