  1. Peaceful Dove

    Peaceful Dove

In Adelaide you see the occasional pair. In Cairns there are large flocks of them everywhere.
  2. A quiet drink

    A quiet drink

I don't think I've shown you a Peaceful Dove at Bowra before. However here's one showing that beautiful eye.
  3. I used to use blue eyeshadow...

I used to use blue eyeshadow...

..... but think it looks much nicer on the tiny Peaceful Dove. It's difficult to assess the size of birds in pictures, but this guy is small for a dove, not even as big as our Blackbird! Little charmers, though.
  4. A little quiet

    A little quiet

This is a Peaceful Dove and they're really tiny for doves, smaller than our Blackbirds! A charming species I think and so pretty too.
  5. Quietness descends

    Quietness descends

... with the arrival of this Peaceful Dove. Perhaps a rather apt species to post during the days of the anniversary of the Victory in Europe celebrations. In addition our roads are very quiet too, aren't they. It would be nice to think that could last, wouldn't it.
  6. Placid

    Placid

Sweet these little doves, aren't they ... and indeed they are little! The size of our Collared Dove is 3032 cm, giants in comparison to this one at 19 to 21 cm.
  7. At peace

    At peace

With the finches on that grass verge was a tiny Peaceful Dove. I don't think they're even as big as our Blackbirds! In fact they're not.... not even as big as our Starling! Very attractive.

    Peaceful Dove

One of my favourite Doves in Australia - lovely subtle colours.

Off to England tomorrow to sort out some family business, so maybe some posts of English birds next!

    Peaceful Dove

Another 'easy' poolside bird in Kuala Selangor, Malaysia. A pleasure to have the light for these settings...
  14. For ChrisKten.

    For ChrisKten.

Another lifer we found on our trip to Queensland, we thought we would upload this beauty for Chris (ChrisKten), being our resident expert on Pigeons and Doves. Trust this brings a smile to Chris' face while he await the test results. This little cutie, at 20-24cms is one of Australia's...

    Peaceful Dove

I think these very small birds are the prettiest doves in the state!A
  17. Peaceful Dove

    Peaceful Dove

A peaceful dove is having a meal. Peaceful doves and fairy wrens were busy eating this grass flower at Aplins weir, Ross River.
  18. Peaceful Dove

    Peaceful Dove

Another very common native dove, this species is not much larger than a Common Starling. See http://www.aviceda.org/gallery for more shots!
