  1. Perched I'iwi

    Perched I'iwi

A noble-looking i'iwi that was nice enough to pause from feeding for a second to strike a pose in Hosmer Grove. Figured it was worth traveling over 2,000 miles for this (among other things)
  2. Airborne i'iwi part II

    Airborne i'iwi part II

The departing end of an i'iwi at Hosmer Grove. The forest was teeming with the little red creatures. This was the second best flight shot I managed.
  3. I'iwi doing what it does best

I'iwi doing what it does best

A young I'iwi patronizing a flower. Note the juvenile plumage on its head. Probably my favorite I'iwi shot of the bunch.
  4. I'iwi on the move

    I'iwi on the move

A very heavy crop of an I'iwi flying toward the camera. For a large, nectivorous finch it flies awfully fast, and this was definitely a lucky shot
  5. I'iwi reaching for nectar

    I'iwi reaching for nectar

An I'iwi stretches to reach nectar in Hosmer Grove in Haleakala National Park
  6. I'iwi displaying

An I'iwi calling and displaying near the parking lot at Hosmer's Grove
