    Tiny species usually found in thick vegetation areas at low to mid level height. Always moving, jumping around, wagging their tail. They do not make it easy for our cameras that's for sure lol. One of my favorite small birds.

    Masked Gnatcatcher (Polioptila dumicola) Sexes similar. Not a particularly good photo but it was in the canopy and it did not want to come down to play (lol). South Wild, south of Pocon, Mato Grosso, Brazil. Riparian woods adjacent to Pixaim River at ca. 128 m (420 ft) elevation.

    My lifer-post for today is the Masked Gnatcatcher. Always nice to have fewer gnats around |=)| Sorry about the shadows messing up the shot, but that's how it was. He stayed down in the trees, and with that tropical sun high in the sky he was obviously always in mottled shade.
