    shadow darner on wildflower. one of the common mosiac darners of this area. there are also green striped, canada, and black-tipped darners in the area. great fun chasing them all.

    The Shadow Darner male patrols ponds and streams often in the shadows whereas most dragonflys prefer full sun. These are among the genus Aeshna, or Mosaic Darners which have rows of blue spots on males.
