    Courting this sitting female, the flying male California Least Tern brought a fish about every 10 minutes for 2 hours. Apparently his hunting prowess made an impression because she left with him.

    I did not see any additional Chicks today but I did take a 2X tele-converter so I got better pictures of the chick. In this picture he or she appears to be attempting to fly, well maybe just stretch its wings. It was early in the morning and cloudy so I was at ISO 800 to keep my shutter speed...

    There is finally one Least Tern Chick and I think there is another egg, so we might see two tomorrow. Extremely high tides wiped out most of the nesting area, but there were a couple of nests that appeared untouched.

    The Least Terns are nesting on Porpoise Point at St. Augustine Inlet. I watched the nest tender sheltering an egg on the beach over half a hour to get this picture. The second bird of the pair flew in, gave the fish to the nest tender, the nest tender left the nest, took off, and the second bird...
