  1. Broad-winged Hawk

    Broad-winged Hawk

This bird was sitting calling. It belongs to the local subspecies rivierei.
  2. Lesser Antillean Flycatcher

    Lesser Antillean Flycatcher

This is late summer so the uppermost tail feathers have been moulted (they are like the outer vanes of those visible here). Therefore, the more contrasting pattern of the next pair can be easily seen on this image.
  3. Lesser Antillean Swift - 3

    Lesser Antillean Swift - 3

This image is not truly sharp enough, but I was surprised by the amount of color this swift was hiding. Niels
  4. Lesser Antillean Swift - 2

    Lesser Antillean Swift - 2

I had not expected I would be able to see the grey area at the rump which is just hinted at in the field guides.
  5. Lesser Antillean Swift - 1

    Lesser Antillean Swift - 1

With my previous setup I think I would have given up before I got started.
  6. Jaco

    Jaco

For once, sun and a bird at the same time ;)
  7. Imperial Parrot

    Imperial Parrot

This Sisserou was in the same tree as the Jaco I just uploaded, but it was not quite so photo friendly in its behavior.
  8. Red-necked Parrot

    Red-necked Parrot

This Jaco (local name) was hanging upside down, using most of the time with the bill inside the crack in the fruit also included here. But every once in a while, it looked down to see what the crazy guy below it was doing ;)
  9. House Wren

    House Wren

If you look at this image, then please also look at http://www.birdforum.net/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/430301/limit/recent. I have a new version of my favorite editing program, and these are two different settings that I try to figure out -- which one do I want to use? thanks Niels
  10. House Wren

    House Wren

This was in the shade during late afternoon, so the bird is a little darker than usual. However, I also think it is a juvenile (other photos shows yellow gape). (photo was taken at iso3200, which explains the noise still visible in the image. The Dominica subspecies is T. a. rufescens
  11. Rufous-throated Solitaire

    Rufous-throated Solitaire

It is rare to see this species sit this openly, but on this particular day, it sat like this for a while, singing its heart out. Unfortunately, it chose a day with dim light.
  12. Smooth-billed Ani

    Smooth-billed Ani

  13. Blue-headed Hummingbird, female

    Blue-headed Hummingbird, female

It is perusing the favorite food of this species
  14. Lesser Antillean Euphonia

    Lesser Antillean Euphonia

I cannot say for sure if this is the male or female Lesser Antillean Euphonia -- possibly female if it is true that the males have blacker ear coverts.
  15. Jaco

    Jaco

  16. Plumbeous Warbler

    Plumbeous Warbler

I believe that at least the left bird is from this year (even if it is not a newly fledged).
  17. Blue-headed Hummingbird (male)

    Blue-headed Hummingbird (male)

This image in a sligth rain with flash on was with my new panazonic camera. So far I am happy for my choise!
  18. Blue-headed Hummingbird (male)

    Blue-headed Hummingbird (male)

This is a somewhat lousy image: it was the very first bird I digiscoped, and I exceeded the magnification the system could handle. I have hoped ever since that I would get a second chance, but have not seen the bird under photo conditions since ;)
