Violet green swallow

I can only seem to find swallows on a rainy day, so you don't see their namesake iridescent feathers. It is a lot of fun trying to photograph these fast fliers.

Well, that's what my wife said it was, but ornithologists say it's a Violet Green Swallow. I've seldom seen them perched, but never displaying this degree of color.
