When you can't see a willie wagtail's tail, the bird looks even smaller than usual. If you squint, the willie wagtail in this picture slightly resembles a penguin :)

One of my favourite characters a Willie-wagtail sitting on a jetty railing. I suppose we were now about 3/4 of the way round the lake by this time.

    Call of the Willie Wagtail

The Willy Wagtail is a very common bird in Australia but it was always a joy watching these. I filmed this one while calling in Fig Tree Pocket, Queensland, Australia.

The Willie Wagtail was hassling this (Australian?) Raven for several minutes. The Raven just totally ignored it.

    'This is fun!'

The 'Willie' was having such a fun time in the water that it kept getting dry and then coming back again. Today when I came back from picking up my grandson Peter (from school and taking him home) I saw a Willie Wagtail having a go at the local Raven. The Raven had a chicken egg in its mouth...

Willie Wagtails, as their name suggests, are such entertaining characters. Here is an adult with two youngsters, obviously newly fledged so he'll surely have his hands full feeding them LOL. I'll no doubt show you a picture of them 'wagging' their tails at a later date.

    Willie Wagtail on lotus pod

Someone asked yesterday whether the Willie Wagtail was perched on a poppy bud. Here's that same shot cropped closer. Lotus seed pods do look somewhat like poppy buds, but this was definitely lotus.
