A “chattering” Sprawk! (1 Viewer)

On Sunday June 2nd, I went with my Grandson into East London to show him where I grew up.
Whilst there, we walked through a very small park perhaps 40m diameter, where I espied and pointed out a “crows” nest high in a Plane Tree.
A few moments later there was a clatter of wings, to which I uttered “Woodpigeon” until I laid eyes on it…whence it morphed into a male Sprawk!
Then as I struggled to take shots, it released a loud “chatter”…something I’d never heard previously, before flying off to the “crows” nest which it perched adjacent to, before flying off.
Assuming the crows nest was actually its own?
and in such a small area of cover within the urban sprawl, has left me somewhat amazed at the adaptability of Sprawk…Perhaps London’s answer to Berlin’s Goshawk infiltration!😮

I once saw a female sparrowhawk bringing twigs to a tree in Lincoln's Inn. No idea whether that attempt succeeded.

Your sparrowhawk is a female, Ken.

You may be right Richard, my gender term was based on rufous cheeks (in the field) which adult fems.can have, but based more on size (sub Woodpigeon) on that criteria.
What’s more according to lit. they’re silent.😮👍
