A gull and a godwit -- Oostpolder en Onnerpolder (1 Viewer)

Can anyone confirm IDs for two birds seen today at Oostpolder en Onnerpolder, near Groningen?

Bird 1 -- my best guess is common gull, based on the general daintiness, especially the bill:

Bird 2 I've tentatively identified as black-tailed godwit (quite straight bill, modest supercilium):

And showing leg shape:

haha, of course... We are pretty proud of our few pairs in the North (although not nearly as stoked anymore as we were 20 yrs ago)

then, not sure what we have in N Netherlands that you don't have in Brandenburg.

cheers

Agree with your ID's, did you notice the first godwit image has colour rings? just visible through the vegetation, if you've got further images of that bird it would be useful to find out the colour combinaton and get it reported for an insight into its life story.

Cheers,

Ooh, I hadn't noticed -- nice spot. I'll have a look at the other pictures, but it did spend most of its time behind that vegetation!
