A new subspecies of Paramo Tapaculo (1 Viewer)

Is there also a proposed English name for S. opacus?

The authors propose to rank these taxa as two separate biological species, Paramillo Tapaculo (S. canus) and Paramo Tapaculo (S. opacus). Being the better-known species, they suggest retaining the English name Paramo Tapaculo for S. opacus and propose a new name for the heretofore virtually unknown S. canus.

Personally, I prefer when a split results in two new common names, to avoid the confusion over what is really meant by say Paramo T. I guess that will never be something I can decide ;)

Perhaps Alvaro should undertake a study of the central Andes population of S. magellanicus Magellanic Tapaculo. Then we might also have Scytalopus sp. nov. 'Jaramillo Tapaculo'. ;)
