Abernethy Forest/Fortingall (2 Viewers)

I am preparing a trip to the area in mid September and was wondering if anyone had been there and could offer advice.
For Abernethy Forest, is it reasonable to expect an encounter with a capercaillie in the forest?
I was also interested in crested tits, red squirrels and goldeneye, so if anyone had seen them I'd also be interested.
Similarly, is there anything interesting in the Fortingall yew tree area? (except for the 5,000 year old tree itself! And also the burial ground I wanted to visit along the way)

Abernethy is a huge area. Red Squirrels & Crested Tits are virtual certainties. Capercaillie numbers are in decline and outside the, increasingly kept secret, lekking sites it would pure luck to bump into one.

Download the free "Where to watch birds in Scotland" app for details of specific birding areas in Abernethy.
