A late April trip to Guardbridge with a new birding pal in search of a pair of Avocets, followed by a quick return to Riverside Nature Park in Dundee to 'twitch' a Green Winged Teal just found that morning....

wonder if those wheatears have been landing there for years but have been hidden away or maybe just more confident to land there now the area in front has been cleared ?gw teal is still evading me

Have had Wheatear fairly regularly as they move through - mostly around the hill, or the far side of the composting area, so it is fairly likelythey will have been dropping in on the shorter grass in that area over the years too. We just maybe didn't check that part due to the limited viewing options. I think we'll lose that area again as the vegetation regrows (brambles etc), though I noticed there is a clear raised area just beyond the fenced off area at the road bend that can be got to, and failing that, the shorter grass by the road into the industrial unit there.
