Another day, another white egret ID request (Australia, Cairns) (6 Viewers)

Hello - spotted these two individuals on the low tide of the mudflats opposite the Southern Esplanade in Cairns yesterday

Conscious that Great White, Plumed, Cattle, Eastern Reef and sometimes Little throw up a “challenge”, which is often relative size based to ID too which I appreciate my individual standing alone might not help with, but thought I’d try - thanks!

Individual one has a clearly yellow bill and was more in the distance and appeared larger

Individual two was closer up and had a largely dark bill but probably due to the mud it had probed! Appeared smaller

Looks like Intermediate and Little for me. The Great would show a gape extending behind the eye. Intermediate no further than the eye.
